Meet Joe
I’m running for Cleveland Heights City Council because I believe our city can and should be the healthiest place to raise a family in Ohio—physically, socially, economically, and environmentally. When cities are designed to support families, they work for everyone. I’ve been a nurse, a health policy analyst, a small business owner, and most importantly, a husband and father. And through it all, I’ve learned that healthy growth—of people, neighborhoods, and businesses—requires focus, collaboration, and an earnest commitment to making things better.
After years of moving around the country for education and work, my wife and I chose to return to Cleveland Heights to raise our family. We came back for the tree-lined streets, the parks, the creative arts, the historic homes and business districts. I know Cleveland Heights has incredible potential, but we are also facing real challenges, including 60 years of population loss. In order to meet these demands, our city government must put its differences aside and focus on improving the quality of life for residents.
My career has been about solving problems at their root. As a Registered Nurse and Health Policy Analyst, I worked to fix broken systems and improve outcomes. When I became the primary caregiver for our young children, I learned first hand how cities can better support families like ours. I also started a small business—another window into the daily experience of Cleveland Heights residents.
Along the way, I’ve been proud to serve on the Transportation and Environmental Sustainability Committee, the Heights Bicycle Coalition, and the city’s Comprehensive and Equitable Safety Action Plan. I’ve seen firsthand what works—and what needs to change. I’m running for City Council to bring that knowledge, energy, and collaboration to move Cleveland Heights forward, and ensure that we fulfill our motto: All Are Welcome.
